The local Ecclesia, meets in the Christadelphian hall at the corner of St James Rd and Hanley Road in Shirley, Southampton, (see Contacts page for a location map) was established in 1907. Although, prior to this the Ecclesia was really founded in 1887 by an individual Sister moving from Birmingham with meetings held in various locations. By 1945 the Ecclesia had grown to a membership of 145 members.
The present day sees 92 members bridging a wide range of age and professions, each member bringing his or her own skill and capability to the benefit of the total Ecclesia.
Baptised members take part in a Breaking of Bread memorial service every Sunday morning at our hall in St James Road.
Every encouragement is offered to our younger members to become knowledgeable in God's word. Teaching starts in Sunday school, (28 children), then progresses to Youth Circles, (20 members), then, if God wills, as the children become older, they decide to be baptised.
Youth Circles provide the opportunity for a weekly get together to discuss Bible subjects and also take part in external activities. In addition, there is the chance to mix with other Ecclesia's in the South on Saturday meetings. These are held twice yearly. Other activities include participating in our annual camps and youth weekends.
A Monthly, daytime get together takes place at various locations for the older members, this includes rambles, lunch outings and slide shows.
Similar activities take place in our meeting in Portsmouth (see Contacts page and Weekly Events page)
